The singer has copped some backlash for being allowed on the show. What did you think?
While most Australians were wiping away sweet tears watching Guy Sebastian getting emotional witnessing his brother Chris’ blind audition on The Voice on Monday night, others hit social media claiming the coach’s brother’s appearance was ‘rigged’ and unfair.
Just two episodes in, and the singing program has landed in hot water (well, with some fans anyway!) over allowing a family member of one of the panelists to audition.

Chris, 31, took to the stage as an All-Star contestant after trying his luck on the show during the first season and revealed he knew he would be getting a mix of feedback from fans trying out again because of who he is.
“I didn’t want anyone to think I was getting special treatment,” Chris told Woman’s Day.
It’s for this reason, the singer ruled out choosing older brother Guy as a mentor before he even knew if he would turn any chairs around.
“I had him ruled out from the beginning. I’d hate people to think I wasn’t there for my own abilities or it was rigged.”

Should Chris be allowed on the show?
Just seconds into his audition song, Labrinth’s ‘Jealous’, Guy recognised his brother’s voice and turned his chair, followed by good friend Delta Goodrem, who also appeared as though she knew who she was turning around for. But fellow coaches Kelly Rowland and Boy George were clueless and genuinely blown away by Chris’ sweet tones.
But that didn’t stop fans of the singing program from hitting social media to share their thoughts on Chris being allowed on the show.
“That’s disappointing. I thought the whole point of the show was to nurture raw talent of people from all walks of life and not gather professional singers who already have a career or teens who are trying to ‘make it’,” one viewer tweeted.
Others shared how having the brother on the show was definitely a conflict of interest.
“Umm.. please explain how Chris Sebastian can be on the show with Guy on the panel?” another viewer questioned.
“Having Chris Sebastian on #TheVoiceAU is so inappropriate and definitely a conflict,” shared another.

Stepping out of his brother’s shadow
While some fans did come to Chris defence insisting he was a performer in his own right and despite some backlash, the singer and new dad is keen to take the opportunity he now has with Coach Kelly Rowland and officially step out of his brother’s shadow.
“I won’t be forgetting this moment any time soon,” he tweeted after his audition aired. “Thank you so much for all the love! Watching it back messed me up just as much haha. @Kellyrowland thank you so much for seeing something in me! I will do all I can.”
