For the past two days, *Lila has been a complete emotional wreck, barely able to make it out of bed in the morning.
The American mum-of-one doesn’t think she has stopped crying once –with tears flowing down her cheeks in endless waves.
Lila and *Craig have been together for eight years and married for four- so she never imagined their relationship would come to an end.
But that changed on Sunday when Craig suddenly announced that he wanted a divorce.
“I am completely broken. I don’t know how to think. Or how to feel,” Lila shared on Reddit.
“I want this all to be a bad dream. The thought of telling my four-year-old that mummy and daddy won’t be together anymore is killing me.”

“I don’t know what to do”
Lila went on to say that she sees Craig as her best friend – and can’t imagine spending her life without him.
She says that he is the only one she can imagine raising a family and growing old with.
Part of the issue is that Craig has always been the one to comfort Lila when things are hard, which means she has no idea how to cope with this pain alone.
“I just want him to hold me and tell me he loves me and that we will be OK,” she said.
“I’m just lost. I don’t know what to do. I only know how I feel and that’s completely heart broken.”
“Something else is hidden”
For Lila, the hardest part of the whole messy situation is the fact that she doesn’t think Craig is telling the truth about why he wants a divorce.
When she told him that it feels “random” that he has suddenly decided to end the marriage, Craig responded by telling her that “he wasn’t happy”.
“I’ve tried to make him happy so I do feel it’s something else hidden. I don’t know what it is and I can’t seem to get that from him,” she said.
“I asked if there was anyone else and he said no – but I’m not sure.
“I just feel like I’m not going to get closure and that’s what is killing me.”
“I wish he would try”
Lila and Craig had been going to marriage counselling since December last year – a move which Lila had believed to be helpful for their relationship.
Now with Craig about to walk out the door, she suggested they go to counselling separately to work out this issue.
“But that was turned down,” Lila said.
“I just wish he would go to counselling.
“We don’t have to stay together if he really just doesn’t want to but I wish he would try.”
“This is happening to me right now”
Several mums who have found themselves in the same position quickly commented on Lila’s post to offer their reassurance.
One mum said that her ex, who has bipolar, suddenly left one day to be with his bosses’ daughter, while another had her husband walk out after a decade of marriage in July last year.
“I was totally blindsided. It is better over time, but I am still grieving. I think it might also be a midlife crisis,” she said.
“This is happening to me right now. I’m a few months out. Yeah it sucks so much. I was terrified at the thought of my son not having his family together,” another mum added.
“My husband sat me down a few days before Christmas and informed me he ‘wants a divorce and is ready to be a single dad,’ Excuuuse me, WHAT? Totally blindsided. Only in my case, there is someone else.”
